Again this week, we will be making use of Fr. Ron’s bulletin space to update everyone on some of the issues discussed at our June Pastoral Council Meeting. As discussed in detail last week, Council approved an increase for cemetery lots and services effective August 1st, 2018. If you missed last week’s column, refer to our website and select the “Cemetery Tab” across the top banner – everything you need to know is there.
Other topics include the following:
Fr. Dom Prayer Garden – Council approved the Christian Mother’s as the official caretakers of this beautiful green space on our campus. You will be seeing enhancements to the garden and ideas are being explored to give families opportunities to memorialize loved ones to help defray some of the costs needed to maintain the garden. Special thanks to our Christian Mothers for ‘stepping up’ and to all who have donated their time and talents to make this a special place.
Bell Tower – PPG will be supplying the labor and materials to repaint the bell tower this summer. The Verdin Bell Company was brought in to complete an annual inspection of our 1849 34" diameter A. Fulton Bell (Est. wt. of 1,500 lbs). The rope pull system is in need of repair along with the headpiece assembly – the headpiece contains the clapper. Since there is a risk of losing the clapper, the bell has been taken out of service until the necessary repairs can be made. With the age of the bell and its location directly above the organ, we are not taking any chances.
Fellowship Hall - New 5 Ton air conditioning unit is being purchased to replace the failing 20 yr. old system. Once competitive bids are obtained, this project will move forward. The old stove in the kitchen will also be replaced with a commercial gas stove using the money generated from the Funeral Mercy Meals served by parishioners in our hall.
More “Notes from Pastoral Council” next week, but MARK Y OUR CALENDARS NOW – PARISH PICNIC WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH AT RENSHAW FARMS!!
