Last Sunday, Bishop Edward Malesic presided over the 2019 Parish Y outh Ministry Honors within a Eucharistic Liturgy at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greenburg. He bestowed recognition to senior high school graduates whose Catholic faith has lived in their personal life and has been active in their respective parishes and communities. I am pleased to share with you that from our parish we have two senior high school graduates who were recognized last Sunday. They are Zane Jacob Zeppuhar and John William Zurisko.
We extend our congratulations to them and their family for being part of this year’s Parish Y outh Ministry Honors.
This week our Vacation Bible Camp will be held from July 15th-19th, 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. with the theme “ROAR”. This epic African adventure engages the entire herd. At ROAR, children will explore God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. Children from pre-school through 6th grade will be the participants. They will have the opportunity to sing and play roar, do wild bible adventures and be at the imagination station, have stampede sports, watch some videos and eventually have a safari celebration. In between all of the activities, snacks will be provided. Laura Huth will once again be the leader with some assistance from volunteers who will be with her part of the time or for the duration of Vacation Bible Camp. Helen James will take the supervisory role being the Director of Religious Education in our parish.
In advance, I thanked them for giving up their time and talents for making our Vacation Bible Camp possible this year as well as to our generous donors. May God bless you all for your generosity!
It is so timely that our gospel this Sunday talks about the basic commandment of love, which is the love of God and the love of neighbor. Jesus rebukes the so-called experts of religion and love and shows them that the bottom line in loving is not so much doctrine, laws, affiliations or office, but concrete service and compassion. It is not those who are good in talk, but those who walk the talk that are blessed and worthy in God’s eyes. So the message is: start loving and show it in day to day living whether to your family or to strangers that are in need. That is what the Good Samaritan did to the robbers’ victim. He did not think the way the Levite and priest did. He simply treated the victim with mercy and love.
Jesus said, “go and do likewise”.
